Classroom Noise Meter

A free online noise meter for the classroom. It uses your microphone to show how loud the room is and warns when it gets too noisy. Nothing is recorded.

Press Start and allow the microphone.

How the noise meter works

Press Start and allow microphone access. The bar and face react to the volume in the room: green and smiling when it's calm, yellow when it's getting loud, red when it passes your limit. Drag Too loud at to set your limit and Sensitivity to match your microphone.

Privacy: the sound is analyzed live in your browser to measure volume. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent anywhere.

Tips

  • Set the limit together with your class so students own the goal.
  • Use it during group work, then reward calm minutes with a brain break game.
