How to play Minute to Win It
- Set up 4–6 challenges with cheap materials, such as Stack Attack (build and take down a 10-cup pyramid), Suck It Up (move 10 paper squares from one plate to another with a straw), Defying Gravity (keep 2 balloons in the air) and Ping Pong Bounce (bounce a ball into a cup).
- Split the class into teams and demonstrate the first challenge once.
- One player from each team tries the challenge at the same time while a 60-second timer runs on the board.
- Give 3 points for finishing the challenge and 1 point for a good try.
- Rotate players so every student tries at least one challenge. Add up the points at the end.
Variations
- Stations: set up each challenge at a different table and let teams rotate every 3 minutes.
- Review twist: a team must answer a question correctly to pick the next challenge or earn a 10-second head start.
- Class vs. teacher: the class chooses one challenge for you to try at the end.
💡 Teacher tips
- Check for allergies before using any food. Paper squares and pom-poms work just as well as candy.
- Choose challenges with no running or throwing so the room stays safe.
