How to use the classroom buzzer

  1. Choose the number of teams. Each team gets a big colored buzzer and a key: A, L, Q, P, Z and M, spread around the keyboard so players don’t bump hands.
  2. Read a question. The first team to press its key, or tap its buzzer on a touch screen, wins the buzz. Every other buzzer locks, and the screen shows who was second and third and by how much.
  3. Press Correct (Enter) to award the points, or Wrong (Backspace) to take points away and let the other teams buzz.
  4. Press Next question or the space bar to unlock every buzzer.

Turn on Time to answer to give the buzzing team 5 to 30 seconds to answer.

Questions teachers ask

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on a touch smartboard?

Yes. Each buzzer reacts to the first touch, so students can tap at the same moment and the fastest tap wins. On a laptop, use the keys shown on each buzzer.

Can students buzz from their own phones?

This buzzer runs on one screen with no student devices. For phones, start a free live quiz room from the Live quiz page.

How do I stop a team from buzzing too early?

Read the whole question first and press Next question only when you are ready. Any buzz before that is ignored, because the buzzers are still locked from the last question.
